다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Gongpyeong-dong site is located at the Old Seoul City area of Joseon dynasty period. Excavated remains of the site include building, furnace, lavatory and drainage with others. Particularly a number of animal bones were also found at the 15th century pits (n=7) situated at the layer VI of the site. Gross examination revealed the existence of horse bones from pits 1 to 3, also with bovine bones identified at the pits 4 and 5.
Minimum number of individuals for each pit ranged between 1 to 3; but the bones of disparate species have not mingled within them. Since butchery had not been permitted in the Gongpyeong-dong area during Joseon period, the cattle and horse bones we collected might have been the vestiges of food waste disposal on the ground. This is the first zooarchaeological report on the animal remains buried at highly populated city areas during Joseon dynasty period.

서울 공평동 유적은 사대문 내 조선시대 유적으로 건물지, 아궁이, 화장실, 배수로 등이 확인되었고, 특히 임진왜란 이전 시기까지 유지되었던 건물지, 적심 부근의 수혈유구 7기에서 동물 ...

서울 공평동 유적은 사대문 내 조선시대 유적으로 건물지, 아궁이, 화장실, 배수로 등이 확인되었고, 특히 임진왜란 이전 시기까지 유지되었던 건물지, 적심 부근의 수혈유구 7기에서 동물 뼈가 다수 확인되었다. 동물 뼈가 확인되는 수혈은 서쪽 3호 및 4호 건물지 주변에서 주로 확인되고 있어 이 건물지들과 연관성이 있는 것으로 판단된다. 동물고고학적 육안적 동정 결과 1호부터 3호까지 수혈에서는 말 뼈가 확인되었으며 4호 및 5호 수혈에서는 소뼈가 확인되었다. 각 수혈의 최소 추정 개체 수는 1~3이지만 다른 종의 뼈가 혼입되어 있지는 않았다. 해당 동물 뼈가 발견된 지역은 조선시대 당시 한성부 사대문 안 지역에서도 관공서가 밀접해 있던 지역으로 동물 도축 등이 허용되는 지역은 아니었기 때문에 해당 지역에서 단순 취식 후 그 자리에 폐기한 흔적으로 추정한다. 이 보고는 조선시대관공서 지역에서 동물 뼈가 많이 매납되었다는 것을 동물고고학적 기법으로 밝힌 최초의 보고이다.
