1. Korean old towns were the seat of local administrative which 'Su-ryeong'(守令) resided. They were classified into 'Bu-Eub'(府邑), 'Ju-Eub'(州邑), 'Gun-Eub'(郡邑), and 'Hyeon-Eub'(縣邑) according to the name of local administrative districts. This study deals with 'Dae-Dohobu-Eub'(大都護府邑) and 'Dohobu-Eub'(都護府邑).
2. 'Dae-Dohobu' and 'Dohobu' in 'Jo-Sun'(朝鮮) originated from the 'Dang'(唐) system used in Ko-Ryeo(高麗). Ko-Ryeo had set up the government organs at the important places following the Dang system which later became the name of local administrative districts.
3. The rank of 'Dae-Dohobu' is higher than 'Mok'(牧), and the rank of 'Dohobu' is lower than 'Mok' and higher than 'Gun'(郡),
4. The number of 'Dae-Dohobu' which had been 4 in the early 'Jo-Sun' became 5 in the last 'Jo-Sun', but 'Dohobu' was increased twice in its number from 39 to 78.
