학습자들은 고전 문학 작품을 학습하는 과정을 통해서 조상들의 삶과 가치관 등을 이해하여 삶을 진지하게 성찰할 수 있고, 전통 문화를 계승하고 발전시켜 나갈 수 있게 된다. 이 과정에서 학생들이 주체적·능동적·창의적인 태도로 문학 작품을 수용하고 생산할 수 있어야 한다.
이러한 교육적 의의를 실현하는 것을 목표로 하여 본고는 학생들이 <심청전>을 주체적‧ 창의적‧ 능동적으로 수용하고 창작할 수 있는 교수·학습 방안을 구성하려 했다. 이에 본 연구에서는 고전 문학 작품 중에서 <심청전>을 통해 다른 시각의 해석이 가능함을 논의해 보았다. 이 논의는 기존의 고전소설 교육의 문제점을 개선하고 새로운 시각으로 고전 문학 작품을 바라보는 교수‧학습 방안을 모색하는 것에 궁극적인 목적이 있다.
우선 영웅의 의미를 재고해보고 영웅의 개념을 확장한 후, 심청을 영웅 유형 중의 하나로 설정했다. 심청뿐만 아니라 심청과 유사한 영웅 형상을 발견 가능한 다른 고전 소설 작품들도 제시하여 살펴봤다. 이를 통해 <심청전>뿐만 아니라 다른 고전에서도 심청과 유사한 영웅 형상을 찾아볼 수 있음을 확인한다. 더불어 이런 영웅 형상이 당시 사회 모습을 반영하면서 어떻게 변모해 가는지도 살펴보고자 한다. 그 후 심청의 일생 구조를 따라 영웅의 일생 구조와 비교하며 <심청전>의 영웅적 면모를 찾아보았다. 더불어 심 봉사의 개안을 중심으로 하여 봉사들이 눈뜨는 대목에 집중하여 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 심청이 희생과 구원의 영웅 형상을 지니고 있음을 확인하고 이런 논의가 교육적으로 어떤 의의를 갖는지 서술하였다.
이를 교육과정 안에서 구현할 수 있는 방안을 제시했다. ‘2009개정 교육과정’을 기초로 하여 구체적 학습 목표를 설정하였다. 그 다음 <무형문화재 조사보고서> 심청가 중에서 심청이 맹인 잔치를 배설하고 아버지가 오기를 기다리는 장면부터 결말 부분까지를 학습 텍스트로 설정하고 원문 텍스트를 학생들의 수준에 알맞게 재구성하였다.
본 연구는 고전 소설을 새로운 시각에서 주체적·능동적·창의적인 태도로 문학 작품을 수용하고 생산하는 동시에 교육적 가치를 이끌어 내고 교육적 효과를 극대화 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하여 작품에 대한 이해를 새롭게 하고 문학적 수용을 확대하고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Learners can understand life and value of ancestors, reflect upon their lives in earnest and inherit and develop traditional culture by learning classic works of literature. In this process, students should be able to accept and produce literary works in an independent, active and creative attitude.
In order to realize this educational significance, this paper aims to devise a teaching and learning method so that students can accept and create <Simcheongjeon>, independently, creatively and actively. For achieving this purpose, this study discussed the possibility of interpreting <Simcheongjeon>, as a classical work of literature, from a different perspective.
The ultimate goal of this discussion is to improve the problems of exiting classical novel education and find a teaching and learning method to analyze classical works of literature, from a new point of view.
First of all, Simcheong was set as one of hero types, after reconsidering the meaning of hero and expanding the concept. In addition to Simcheongjeon, other classical novels; <Baridegi>, <Wonhongjang> and <Yangssijeon> which described similar hero figures, were analyzed.
As a result, it was proven that not only Simcheongjeon but also other classical novels showed hero figures similar to Simcheong. Moreover, this study examined how these hero figures reflected social aspects of those days and how they changed.
After that, the whole life of Simcheong was compared with lives of heros to find heroic aspects of <Simcheongjeon>. In addition, the part that blind people gained their eyesight, was intensively analyzed, focusing on eyesight recovery of Simcheong's father. Based on this finding, it was found that Simcheong's sacrifice and relief had heroic aspects, and the educational significance of this discussion was described.
For applying this to the curriculum, a specific learning goal was set, on the basis of the 2009 revised curriculum. The learning texts set in this study ranged from the scene that Simcheong holds a feast for the blind and waits for her father to the ending of Shimcheongga from the <Investigation Report of Intangible Cultural Properties>, and they were reorganized to be suitable for students' level.
In conclusion, this study has significance by suggesting a method to accept and produce literary works in an independent, active and creative attitude, from a new perspective, extract educational values from classical novels and maximize the educational effect, and contributing to a new understanding of works and an expansion of literary acceptance.
