이 글은 幻戱詩에 담긴 청대 북경의 환술공연 양상을 살피고, 이를 통해 19세기 조선 지식인들의 환술을 바라보는 시각을 검토하는 데 목적이 있다. 여기서 사용된幻戱詩란 용어는 환술 및 환술공연[幻戱]과 관련된 일체의 사항을 제재로 삼아 쓴 시를 가리킨다. 일반적으로 환희를 보고 쓴 산문은 환술공연 전반을 사실적으로 기록하는 데 역점을 두는 반면, 시는 환술공연의 특징적 장면들을 포착하여 형상화하는 데 주안점을 둔다. 하지만, 이 글에서 검토 대상으로 삼은 金進洙(1797~1865)의 <幻戱宴> 二十八首는 일반적인 경우와는 다른 특성을 보여준다. 이 작품은 단편적 장면의 형상화에 그치지 않고, 공연 전반에 관한 입체적 조명에 성공하고 있다는 점에서 매우 특별한 가치를 지니고 있다. 김진수는 紀行과 관련된 작품을 많이 남긴 중인계층의 작가이다. 그는 19세기 전반 연행을 한 뒤 <燕京雜詠>이란 燕行詩를 남겼다. 이 <연경잡영>중에 실려 있는 <幻戱宴> 二十八首는 현전 자료 중 환희를 다룬 가장 긴 연작시인 동시에, 시와 自注 그리고 黃鍾顯의 評이란 특징적 구조로 이루어져 있다. 김진수는 환술 공연 내용만이 아니라, 공연자와 공연환경에 대해서도 깊은 관심을 가졌다. 특히, 환술사의 비참한 처지에 동정 어린 시선을 보내고 있다. 이는 일정 부분 그의 신분적 한계와 무관하지 않은 감정이라 보인다. <幻戱宴> 二十八首는 한편으로 환술을 상상력의 문제와 연결시키고 ``幻夢``과 ``開眼``의 문제로 환술을 바라보고 있다. 이는 단순히 환술공연 내용을 형상화한 작품들과는 다른 본격적 환술 담론이라고 그 가치를 평가할 수 있다. 최치원의 <鄕樂雜詠> 이래 한국 한문학 자료 중엔 연희를 소재 혹은 제재로 한 많은 演戱詩들이 존재한다. 김진수의 <환희연> 이십팔수는 연희시의 역사에서 환술공연에 관한 가장 집중적이고 수준 높은 연작시라고 평가할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article aims to study the aspects of magic performance in Beijing in the Qing Dynasty and to examine the Chosun scholar``s view of magic in the 19th century. In this article, "poetry on magic performance", or "Hwanhee- poetry" indicates the poetry dealing with magic performances. In general, writings on Hwanhee foreground realistic representation of whole process of magic performance, while poetry emphasize catching and figuration of characteristic moments. But, 28 poems of Feast of Magic Performance(幻戱宴), written by Kim Jinsoo(金進洙), go far beyond simple figuration, and are very successful in full illustration of the whole performance. Kim Jinsoo is a writer from middle class, remaining several works about travel. He wrote a poem called Miscellaneous Poetry on Yanjiing(燕京雜詠) after his travel to Beijing in the early 19th century. Beside the content of magic performances, Kim Jinsoo is deeply interested in the performers and performing surroundings. Especially he felt sympathy for miserable condition of performers. This may be related to his own situation as a middle class. The works of Feast of Magic Performance(幻戱宴) relate magic performance with a problemetic of imagination, and regardit with concepts of ``magical dream(幻夢)`` and ``eye-opening(開眼)``. This is very valuable differing from the works which simply representing the contents of magic performances. There are many Korean poems written in Chinese characters regarding with magic performance. Among them, 28 poems of Feast of Magic Performance(幻戱宴), written by Kim Jinsoo, are one of the most outstanding works.
