고전은 조상들의 현실생활의 지혜와 미래에 대한 가치관 및 세계관의 정수를 함축한 작품으로 특히, 서사문학은 당대인의 삶의 상황 제시가 확연하여 당대의 삶의 편린들을 극명하게 제공한다. 시가문학이 서정의 표현이라면 고소설은 민중의 삶과 삶 속에 담긴 다양한 가치관을 보여준다.
제7차 교육과정은 제6차 교육과정에 비해 좀 더 학습자 중심의 교육을 강조하며, 교수·학습 방법에도 많은 변화를 요구한다. 고전문학 교육, 그 중에서도 고소설 교육은 어석(語釋) 중심의 학습에서 벗어나 작품의 총체적인 면모를 파악하고, 다양한 상상력을 통하여 학습자가 학습 과정에서 능동적으로 참여하여 비판적이고 창의적으로 수업할 수 있도록 다양한 교수·학습 방법이 개발되어야 한다. 본고는 이러한 교육환경에 조응하여 새로운 학습자 중심의 교수·학습 방법을 고찰을 목적으로 설정하고, 교육연극으로서 「토끼전」을 적용시켜 보았다.
제2장에서는 교육연극의 이론적 근거를 확인하였다. 교육연극은 전문연극인 아동·청소년 연극의 공연을 통해 도달할 수 있는 교훈적 효율성과 비교할 때, 명료한 교육 목표를 유지하며 교육현장에서 그 효과를 증폭시켜 왔다. 완성된 연기에 맞추어 극을 만드는 것이 아니라 즉흥적으로 대사하고 행동함으로써 참여자의 창의력과 순발력을 동시에 키워가게 된다. 참여자가 주체가 되고 동기의 유발과 흥미를 학습자들 스스로 만들어 감으로써 학습의 효과는 극대화된다.
제3장에서는 실제 수업 모형을 만들기 위해 중학교 교과서에 나오는 「토끼전」을 기본텍스트로 삼았다.「토끼전」은 다른 우화소설과 마찬가지로 갖가지 인간의 성격을 여러 가지 동물의 성격을 빌려 표현하여 당대 사람들의 전형적 성격을 제시하고 주제의 측면에서는 현실사회를 비판하고 풍자하는 특징을 지닌다.
다양한 이본군이 형성되어 있는 것도 「토끼전」이 갖는 장점의 하나이다. 교육부에서 정한 「토끼전」의 학습 계획은 모두 3차시로 이루어져 있으므로 각 차시별로 교육연극의 수업모형에 따라 교수·학습 지도안을 작성하여 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Classics are works which gives us wisdom of actuality life of the ancestors, the sense of value for the future and an outlook on the world, especially the narrative literature provides us with a glimpse of the present generation in detail as it definitely offers situation of life about present generation. If we assumed poetic literatures(시가문학) to be the expression of delineation of feelings, classical novels would show the life of the people and various values which is put in it.
The 7th curriculum we emphasize a learner-centered education more than the 6th curriculum, demanding many changes even in teaching & studying method. Among the education in the classical literatures, classical novel education grasps a general aspect of works which is against studying which centers on translation. We should develop studying & teaching methods to let the learners participate in a course of study through the various curiosities actively and to work with critical and creative attitudes. In this paper we cope with these educational surroundings, setting up an inquiry as an object about studying & teaching methods which is to be a new learner-centered education. And we can apply to the Tokkijeon as an educational play.
In the 2nd chapter, we can identify theoretical basics for an educational play. When we compare it with instructive efficiency which we can reach through a public performance of a play for children & youth as a professional play, we have amplified its effect by keeping up the educational objectives clearly on the actual eduction spot. It makes the participants increase both their creativity and quick sense at the same time by plugging the words and acting extemporarily. As the participant becomes a subject and completes its motivation, interest by himself, we can help to reinforce what you have learned.
From 3rd chapter we exhibit TokkiJeon which is in middle school texts as a basic text to make a real studying model. TokkiJeon provides us with typical characters of present generation by expressing characters of human beings with several features of animals. Also it has features that criticize the society and satirize a person or group of people who lived in a profane[secular] society.
We can know that TokkiJeon is made up of a lot of different versions written by different authors as a good point as well. In this paper we make out teaching & studying plans according to studying model for educational plays ant indicate them as the teaching plan of TokkiJeon which the Ministry of Education gives us consists of 3 periods of time per class.
