이 연구는 장-뤽 낭시(Nancy, Jean-Luc)의 공동체 이론을 활용하여 <흥부전>과 <심청전>의 공동체 교육요소를 탐구하고 공동체 의식 함양을 위한 교육방안의 제안을 목적으로 한다. 공동체 역량은 2015 개정 교육과정의 핵심역량 중 하나로 지정된 만큼 중요성이 매우 강화된 역량이다. 국어과 교육과정에서도 이에 근거하여 교과 역량으로 공동체·대인관계 역량을 설정하고 각 영역에서 교육요소로 다루고 있다. 그중 문학 영역은 공동체 의식과 관련한 단원을 구성하여 직접적으로 다루고 있는데, 주로 현대 문학을 대상으로 하여 교육 내용이 이루어져 있다. 이에 이 연구는 고전 문학에 주목하여 판소리계 소설인 <흥부전>과 <심청전>를 제재로 선정하고 소설 속에 나타나는 공동체의 모습을 분석하였다.
장-뤽 낭시의 공동체는 ‘타자’를 중요하게 다루며 전체주의적 공동체의 한계를 극복하고자 하였다. 그는 공동체를 ‘공동-내-존재’라는 개념으로 사유했는데, 이는 ‘어떤 조건’이나 ‘어떤 것’의 공유를 목적으로 삼지 않고 외존하여 유한성만을 분유하는 공동체이다. 이 구성원은 공동으로 나타나지만 서로 동일화되지 않고 각자의 자유를 유지하며 소통한다. 이러한 낭시의 이론을 통해 <흥부전>과 <심청전>에 드러나는 공동체의 모습을 규명하고자 하였다.
2장에서는 소설 속 인물의 말과 행동을 중심으로 다른 사람을 대하는 태도를 파악하여 각 인물이 지향하거나 속해있는 공동체의 성격을 분석하고자 하였다. <흥부전>과 <심청전>의 공동체의 모습은 줄거리에 따라 이동되는 양상을 보였다. 이에 따라 <흥부전>에서는 ‘구별과 배제에 기반한 동일성의 공동체’와 ‘결핍의 충족을 위한 이상적 공동체’ 그리고 ‘더불어 있음을 보여주는 분유의 공동체’를 도출하였고, <심청전>에서는 ‘죽음의 분유로 인식되는 공동체’와 ‘희생을 정당화하는 폭력적 공동체’,‘조건 없이 타인과 나누는 다양성의 공동체’를 도출하였다. 그리고 이 과정에서 긍정적인 양상의 공동체 모습을 지향하며 타인에게로 기울어져 있고자 했던 인물들에겐 그들의 노력이 전제되어 있다는 것을 도출할 수 있었다.
3장에서는 이와 같은 분석을 교육 내용화 함으로써 교육방안을 설계하고자 하였다. 공동체 의식 함양을 위한 교육의 내용과 방향을 설정하기 위해 국어과 교육과정의 문학 영역을 살폈으며, 교육과정에서 말하고 있는 공동체 교육의 내용을 충실히 반영하고자 ‘공동체 지향 글쓰기’방법론을 활용하여 구체적 교육방안을 구상하였다. 앞서 살핀 <흥부전>과 <심청전>을 교육 내용으로 삼아 고등학교 2학년 학습자를 대상으로 총 5차시 교육방안을 구상하였으며, 이후 평가 방안에 대해서도 논의하였다. 학습자는 이와 같은 일련의 과정을 통해 ‘공동체적 나’로서 성장하여 공동체 문제에 더욱 관심을 가지고 타인과 공존하는 태도를 학습할 수 있을 것이다.
이 연구는 급속도로 개인화되는 사회 속에서 문학을 통해 공동체의 가치를 깨달아 함양함으로써 더불어 사는 삶을 제안하고 있다. 학습자들은 이미 학교에서 경쟁하고 있고, 계속해서 타인보다 우수해야 취업하고 승진할 수 있는 사회구조 속에 있다. 그 결과 학습자들에게 공동체적 가치는 점점 뒤로 밀려나기 마련이다. 따라서 이 연구는 이러한 현 사회 속에서 공동체적 요소가 잘 나타난 작품을 제시하고 교육방법을 제안함으로써 학습자의 공동체 의식 함양에 기여할 수 있을 것이라 생각된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study uses Jean-Luc Nancy’s community theory to study community education factors in <Heungbujeon> and <Simcheongjeon> and suggest a educational plan for fostering community spirit. Community ability is a highly important ability that is designated as one of core abilities in 2015 curriculum revision. Considering such importance, Korean language curriculum sets a community·interpersonal relationship ability as a subject capability, and covers it in each section. Among all sections, community spirit is covered in literature as a whole chapter, and its content is mainly focused on modern literature. Therefore, this study selected Pansori novels <Heungbujeon> and <Simcheongjeon> as a topic after observing classic literature to analyze the community shown in the novels.
The community mentioned in Jean-Luc Nancy considers ‘the others’ significant, and tries to overcome the limits of a totalitarian community. He reasoned the community as a concept of ‘Being-in-commun’, which refers to a community that only shares finitude through exposition without aiming for sharing ‘a certain condition’ or ‘a certain thing’. Although members of the community are shown in common, they do not identify themselves with others but rather maintain their own freedom when they communicate. This study studies the community shown in <Heungbujeon> and <Simcheongjeon> based on the aforementioned Nancy’s theory.
In Chapter 2, this study identifies the way characters in the novels treat others based on their words and behaviors, and analyzes the characteristics of the community where each character pursues or is belonged to. The community shown in <Heungbujeon> and <Simcheongjeon> seemed to change as the story continues. ‘A community of identity based on distinction and exclusion’, ‘an ideal community to satisfy deficiency’, and ‘a sharing community that shows co-existing life’ were shown in <Heungbujeon>, and ‘A community recognized as sharing death’, ‘a violent community that justifies sacrifice’, and ‘a community of diversity by sharing with others without any conditions’ were shown in <Simcheongjeon>. The analysis drew a conclusion that those who tried to lean on others while pursuing positive aspects of the community had their effort in the background.
In Chapter 3, the study designs an educational plan by adapting the analysis in Chapter 2 into educational contents. This study observed the literature section in Korean language curriculum in order to set the contents and directions for education in fostering community spirit. Also, a specific educational plan was organized based on ‘community-oriented writing’ methodology to fully reflect the contents of community education in the curriculum. Based on the aforementioned <Heungbujeon> and <Simcheongjeon>, the educational plan consists of 5 classes for the second grade students in high school. Further evaluation methods were discussed as well. Through this process, learners will be able to learn how to behave to co-exist with others by having more interest in community issues, which will result in becoming ‘a communal being’.
As personalization is rapidly growing in the society, this study suggests co-existing life by fostering the value of community through literature. Learners are already competing in school, exposed to a social structure where one should surpass others to be employed or promoted. As a result, communal values are considered relatively unimportant. Thus, this study contributes to fostering learners’ community spirit by presenting novels that illustrate communal values in the modern society and suggesting the following plan for education.
