최근 한국 사회에서 다문화 현상이 빠르게 증가하고 있으며, 이에 따라 다원주의적 인식과 태도를 기르기 위한 다문화 교육을 필요로 하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 다문화 교육의 필요성을 깨닫고, 국어교육에서 고전문학을 활용한 융합교과교육 방안과 궁극적으로 다문화 교육 방안을 모색하고자 하였다.
제2장에서는 한국 다문화 사회 현상을 통해 다문화 교육의 필요성과 문제점을 중점적으로 분석하였다. 다음으로 현재 시행되고 있는 한국 다문화 정책에 대해 분석하고, 그 개선방안을 모색하였다. 그리고 다문화 교육의 목적을 달성하기 위해 다문화 교육의 하위 영역을 ‘정체성 교육’, ‘다문화 이해 교육’, ‘공동체 의식 교육’으로 범주화하였다. 또한 현 교육과정에 포함되어 있는 문화적 다양성이 드러날 수 있도록 다문화가정 자녀의 문화를 교육과정에 반영하여, 일반가정 자녀와 함께 다양한 문화적 내용을 학습할 수 있도록 하는 교육 방안을 구안해 보고자 하였다.
제3장에서는 고전문학을 활용한 교수-학습 방법에 대해 구체적으로 살펴보았다.
우선 고전문학의 필요성과 활용 방향을 살펴보았으며, 다음으로 다문화가정 학생들과 일반 학생들이 함께 학습할 수 있는 방안으로 제시되는 국어교과를 타 교과와 융합하여 융합교과교육을 하는 방안을 모색하였다. 중학교 교과서에 수록된 고전문학 작품을 분석한 결과 『홍길동전』이 다문화교육 자료로 적합하다고 판단했다. 『홍길동전』의 문제의식과 현재적 가치를 분석한 후, 시대적, 공간적 배경을 바탕으로 국사, 사회, 외국어 교과와의 융합교육을 통한 지도 방안을 제시하였다. 또한 『홍길동전』에서 보여주고 있는 갈등 양상과 고난 극복과정을 현대 사회의 다문화 현상에 접목한 후, 학습자의 삶과 현실 문제를 연계하여 작품을 수용하고 내면화하는 과정이 될 수 있도록 타 교과와의 융합을 통한 지도 방안을 모색하였다.
제4장에서는 고전문학을 활용한 융합교과교육 교수-학습 모형과 교수-학습 과정안을 구성하였다. 우선 협동학습 모형을 바탕으로 일반학생과 다문화가정 자녀 학습자를 위한 국어교육 내용을 계획하여 가치관 교육, 문화 이해 교육을 병행하는 교수-학습 모형을 제안하였다. 다음으로는 국어과와 사회과·국사과·외국어과(중국어)의 연계를 통해 현재의 다문화 교육의 한계점과 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 새로운 대안을 제시했다. 최종적으로 다문화가정 자녀와 다수의 일반 학생 모두를 고려한 양방향 융합교과교육 교수-학습 과정안을 구성하였다.
본 연구는 융합교과교육의 바람직한 지도 방안을 연구하고, 협동학습 모형을 활용하여 실제 교수-학습 지도안을 구성한 것에 의미를 둘 수 있으나, 타 교과와의 융합을 통한 융합교과교육의 구체적인 교육 효과를 검증하지 못한 점은 미흡하다. 이처럼 향후 교육 효과를 검증하기 위해서는 국어 교과와 사회 교과, 외국어 교과 이외의 다른 교과와 융합하여 실시할 수 있는 교수-학습 방법에 대한 연구가 필요하며, 학교 현장에서도 지속적으로 실시할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램과 자료 개발이 활성화되어야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently multicultural phenomenon is increasing rapidly in Korean society, and multicultural education should be needed in order to improve pluralistic awareness and attitudes. So this study realizes needs of multicultural education and it is to research convergence education curriculum with classic literatures in Korean education and multicultural education methods ultimately.
In the chapter 2, this study analyzes mainly needs and problems of multicultural education through multicultural social phenomenon in Korea. Then, this study analyzes Korean multicultural policies, which are operating currently, and researches their improvements. To achieve purposes of multicultural education, it categorizes multicultural education into sub-categories as ‘identity education’, ‘multicultural understanding education’, and ‘sense of community education’. Also, this study is to devise educational methods which could learn various cultural contents with general family’s children, by reflecting cultures of multicultural family’s children to reveal cultural variety included in current curriculum.
In the chapter 3, this study is to research specific teaching-learning methods to utilize classic literatures.
First of all, this study researches needs and utilization directions of the classic literatures, and then seeks a convergence educational methods with other subjects and Korean language, suggested as a way to make multicultural students and general students study together. This study contemplates that 『Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon』 literature is appropriate for a multicultural education material as a result of analyzing classic literatures that a middle school textbook includes. After analyzing problem awareness and current value of the 『Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon』literature, based on contemporary and spatial background this study suggests a lesson plan through convergence educations with other subjects such as national history, society, and foreign language. Also, after combining conflict aspects and overcoming hardship process of the 『Hong-Gil-Dong-Jeon』with multicultural phenomenon in modern society, this study is to identify teaching methods by convergence with other subjects to accept and internalize the literature by connecting learner’s life and contemporary problems.
In the chapter 4, this study constructs teaching-learning model and teaching-learning plan of convergence education curriculum using classic literatures. First of all, this study suggests a parallel teaching-learning model to present value educations and cultural understanding educations by planning Korean language education contents for general and multicultural students based on a cooperative learning model. Then, this study suggests new alternative to overcome current limitation and problems of multicultural educations by connecting Korean language with other subjects such as society, national history, and foreign language (Chinese). Finally, this study constructs two-way convergence education curriculum on teaching-learning plans by considering both of multicultural students and major general students.
This study has a significance that it researches desirable teaching method of convergence education curriculum and constructs actual teaching-learning lesson plan by using a cooperative learning model, but it has a limitation not to verify specific educational effects of convergence education curriculum by connecting other subjects. In order to verify educational effects in future, it should be needed to research teaching-learning method to connect Korean language with other subjects excepting society and foreign languages. In school fields, it should be activated to develop various programs and data to be conducted continuously
