다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Folk-paintings(Minwha), born from humble lives, are a myth and religion of our race. They are an important heritage that retain the Korean spirit. Today, a large number of Minwha exist in our country. They were once closely linked to our daily lives for they were used in almost all corners of a Korean household - wardrobe doors, kitchen lofts and on the front door of a house. Furthermore, they were used to celebrate special birthdays, weddings and so on. It is easy to understand. It expresses a honest heart of humble people without pretense. In general, they express the modest spirit of the Korean people and one is able to detect the humor and sarcasm hidden in them. They are usually a social reflection of a given period.
A Minwha have several characteristics. The elaborate peony flower symbolizes fortune, lotus flowers expressed the pure and noble minds of honorable men, landscapes with flowers and bird drawings, plant and insect themes, magpies with tigers, books with desks and other furnitures in the study and so on. They represent the dream, love, faith and virtue of common people.
Especially, the Chack-Geori pictures show formative beauty of Minwha. They uniquely reflect the culture of the time and display the beauty of their own kind as they depict the scenes of the studies of noble men and their commodities in matchless harmony. These are indeed symbolic representations of the communal sense of life and the desire of value emotions that were designed to heighten the volition of life and fulfillment of wishes by using various items of daily life. These paintings never fail to neglect the smallest item in the scene. Each item is treated and painted as an ideological being. The harmony in canvas composition and organization is highly emphasized while rendering minimal attention to the relationship between the objects.
Although there are many works of unknown artists, Chack-Geori pictures are excellent works of art even from the perspectives of contemporary art interpretation. Even as a number of Korean artists begin to adopt the techniques and uniqueness of Chack-Geori pictures in their works and reinterpret the significance thereof, the importance of them in the contemporary art needs to be reevaluated.
As one method of research on Korean beauty, this study tries to express analysis and its character as ceramic molding for harmonizing it with modern sense of beauty to help formative understanding through analyzing its character of craft.
For understanding Chack-Geori pictures showing unique formative beauty of Minwha, it surveyed its concept, character and kind and analyzed right meaning, material, symbolism of color and formative character.
Through selecting formative character understood by this study as motive, the work shapes each motive according to the structural character of picture like the principle of plural viewpoint, reverse perspective and the character of plan. The coiling technique was applied to these works to freely express structural character. And the works was used by color-slips to acquire formative appeal through emphasizing the effect of contrast between primary colors and the character of plane in Chack-Geori pictures.
This Study has the meaning to reorganize Korean beauty as present formative language and search new formative world through understanding Chack-Geori pictures of Minwha in depth, and hope that lots of people proceed continuous study and work to enable traditional Korean beauty to be accessed to modern sense of beauty.

꾸밈없이 살아온 서민의 삶 속에서 태어난 민화는 우리 겨레의 신화와 종교, 즉 한국의 정신이 깃들여 있는 귀중한 유산이다. 현재 그 수를 헤아릴 수 없을 만큼 많은 민화가 남아있다. 벽장문, 다락문 또는 대문에 붙였던 그림, 혼례식, 회갑, 생일 잔치 등에 쓰여짐으로써 우리들의 생활과 밀착되어 있다. 민화는 누구나 쉽게 이해할 수 있다. 솔직하고 거짓 없는 진솔한 마음을 표현하며, 가식이 없고 잘난 척 하지 않으며, 소박하게 한국인의 혼과 마음을 잘 표현하고 있다. 민화에 표현된 작가의 심성을 읽다 보면 넘치는 해학과 풍자가 한 시대의 사회상을 그대로 그려내고 있음을 느낄 수 있다.
민중 속에서 태어나고 민중에 의해 그려지고 민중에 의해 유통되는 그림을 가리키는 민화는 여러 가지 특징을 가지고 있다. 화려한 자태로 인해 부귀를 의미하는 모란, 세파에 물들지 않는 청아함과 고결한 모습을 간직한 군자에 비유하는 연꽃, 꽃과 새가 사이좋게 어우러져 있는 정경을 그린 화조도(花鳥圖), 풀과 벌레를 억지나 꾸밈없이 화폭에 옮겨 놓은 초충도(草蟲圖), 까치와 함께 그린 호랑이 그림, 책과 문방사우(文房四友)나 이에 관련된 물건들을 조화롭게 배치해 그린 책거리 등의 민화는 서민들의 꿈, 사랑, 믿음, 진실이 배어 있는 그림이라 하겠다.
이러한 민화 중 조형미가 잘 나타나 있는 책거리 그림은 선비들의 사랑방 정경이나 일상생활 용구를 화면에 조화롭게 집약시킴으로써 당시의 생활문화를 잘 반영해주고 있으며 독특한 미의식을 느낄 수 있게 한다. 이는 민화적인 상징물, 병화분제, 문방 구류의 물건 등을 등장시켜 생활의욕을 돋아주고 소원을 성취하도록 빌어주며, 집단적 생활감정, 가치감정의 욕구를 상징화한 그림이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 등장하는 소재 어느 것 하나 소홀히 다루지 않고, 각각을 관념화된 존재로 인식하고 그렸기 때문에 대상물간의 관계는 크게 고려하지 않으면서 화면의 구성과 구도의 조화를 이루었다.
책거리 그림은 무명 화가가 그린 것이 많기 때문에 그 표현이 저급한 경우도 많이 있다. 그러나 우리 고유의 것이면서 현대적인 책거리 그림의 가치를 높게 보고 체계적이고 과학적인 조형적 연구가 계속 된다면, 전통의 현대적 표현에 창조적 발상으로 한국 미술의 주체성을 더욱 확실히 할 수 있을 것이다.
본 연구는 한국적인 미 탐구의 한 방법으로 책거리 그림의 특성을 입체적으로 재구성 해 도자 조형으로 표현하여 그림이 지니고 있는 고유한 조형적 아름다움의 이해를 돕고, 현대 미감과 어우러질 수 있도록 하는데 그 목적을 두었다.
작품은 이러한 연구로 이해되는 조형적 특성을 모티브로 그림의 구조적 특성인 복수시점의 원리와, 역원근법, 평면성에 기인해 조형화 하였다. 연구 작품은 구조적 특성을 보다 자유롭게 표현하기 위해 코일링 기법을 이용하였다. 또한 책거리 그림의 조형적 호소력을 얻고자, 자연스럽고 다양한 발색을 볼 수 있도록 고화도 하회안료인 색화장토를 이용해 그림의 원색들 간의 대비 효과와 평면성을 강조하였다.
본 연구는 민화의 책거리 그림에 대한 이해를 통해 고유한 한국의 미를 오늘날의 조형 언어로 재구성하고, 새로운 조형의 세계를 모색해 나가는데 의의를 가지며, 앞으로도 우리 고유의 미를 현대적 조형에 적극 활용하여 다가설 수 있는 계기가 되었으면 한다.
