      In accordance with the change and need for human life, the kind of pottery kettle have been developed in variety. The kind of container for pottery have been showed varietly depending upon the need for boiling, holding and transporting.
      Writer has studied for pottery using for keeping liquid and pouring, in view of seperating Goryu dynasty and Yi dynasty.
      First, writer seperated to Pattern and Design of Pottery to compare the difference between Goryu dynasty and Yi Dynasty, to consider the function of pottery kettle, and analysised in the part of cover, handle and mouth.
      Korean pottery kettle was generalized to the pattern in Goryu dynasty, it was apparantely different in the Goryu dynasty and Yi dynasty. Both the character of design and style the specialty of composition of kettle are apparantely different.
      Like this difference of the two dynasty is able to compare two styles of Korean pottery kettle greatly, this different style is to be arranged as like following.
      1. The kettle of Goryu dynasty have many kinds of symbolical pattern, the pattern is decorated with attched materials beautifully.
      The kettle have a long neck developed and the shape of the neck is developed in above and below.
      The cover was made in the style of covering neck, and it was to be fixed with ring.
      The handle is attached to the neck, shoulder and belly, and is verticle.
      Most of the mouth has developed in long with smooth curved line.
      2. The kettle Yi dynasty is symbolical, but the decoration became simple.
      Most of the kettle has no neck, and the shape is mostly round.
      The cover is composed in the above pad of short neck, and handle is attached to both shoulders, and is horizontal.
      The mouth is short and vertical, in case of curved line, is very rugged.
      In conslusion, the kettle can not be remained and developed the shape disregarding function in shape and structure because it is a living container.
      This present state is well expressed to the modern kettle. Also writer think that we have to make popular pottery kettle. The reason is that we succeed the tradition, and also if quality good clay is in popular, not only economical value is good but also in the point of developing an esthetic sense, it has important meaning.
      As shape and structure have to be developed in function mainly, also to make popular pottery kettle is to be important reason for the many fields of practicality and sense of practice use in many points.
