Urbanization, westernization, and industrial development have prompted the development of food culture. A growing number of women participate in social activities, changing the perception of food and lifestyles. Also, users are increasingly demanding modern-sense, simple, and visually suitable eating spaces, using a growing number of specialized food coordinators. Featuring table setting based on eating space display is no longer enjoyed only by special classes of people, and is perceived as an important communication means to express the individuality of people involved and maintain their social life through food. However, many table settings proposed to date by personnel involved in catering and restaurants and food coordinators involve western food-focused table setting, western food-focused excessive stereotyped styling deficient in basic theories, a lack of basic knowledge of using western tabling setting items without a perception of traffic line of customers, and simply formal table setting. This research presents a change of times in Korea's traditional table setting and tableware, and tableware in western table setting and its features. Also, the research surveyed users' perception of traditional table setting and modern table setting. Thus, the research presents an improved table setting with which personnel involved in food and restaurant operators related to parties and table setting can practically use food spaces and simultaneously enhance their artistic profile with a view to the improvement of table setting, as well as specific modern Korean food setting models whereby they can link western table setting items with modern table setting. Likewise, the research presents preferred models of table setting for family, acquaintance, corporate, and academic gatherings, as well as menus suitable to each table setting. As for table setting for family gatherings, geared toward hygiene and decoration, since people are still familiar with Korean food-oriented table setting, they preferred the table setting of rice and side dishes the most. It was advised that table mats and runners should be used, that the number of tableware should be reduced by featuring combined dishes in vessels, that complicated lines on the table should be streamlined to give the beauty of blank space to the table, enhancing elegance and comfort sense. As for table setting for acquaintance gatherings, it was advised that a simple buffet style table setting geared toward enhanced hygiene and decoration should be used to efficiently use small spaces, and buffet-type table setting arranged along the wall and menus should be introduced in order to efficiently use spaces. As for corporate gatherings, people preferred hygiene and simple buffet-type table setting, but corporate gatherings, unlike acquaintance gatherings, are often held in broad spaces in order to promote corporate image, earnings and sales, and create new cultural space. Thus, it was advised that all-round-type buffet party models should be used in order to coordinate the displaying of food, tableware, and space, thereby drawing pleasantry and originality. As for academic gatherings, people preferred parties involving simple tea and cake to enjoy after finishing discussions and seminars. It was advised that plate stands and so forth should be used to achieve simple and practical purposes and enhance efficiency as well as emphasize hygiene and modern sense in order to give it sense of comfort and decoration. It was also advised that menus should focus on finger food to eat easily by using instant dishes and cups.ㅋ
