그간 우리나라에서의 經學 연구는 주로 ‘哲學’ 영역을 다루는 ‘經世之學’ 방면에 치중하여 온 반면, ‘經文’ 그 자체가 갖는 해석학적 의미와 위상, 그리고 訓고와 考證 등에 대해서는 활발한 논의가 진행되지 못하였다. 설령 그러한 연구가 다소 있었다 하더라도, 결국 ‘朱子學’ 중심의 『集注』 연구에 천착하는 단편적인 길을 걸어왔을 뿐이다. 따라서 본 연구는 경전 註解 연구의 활성화를 위하여, 조선의 儒者를 선정하고 다양한 주해를 남긴 부분을 천착한다는 데에 연구의 일차적 목표가 설정되었다. 이에 본고는 17세기 전후가 당시 획일화되어 있던 학풍이 다양한 물꼬를 트게 되는 시점에 도달하게 되었음을 전제하고, 그 선두주자로서의 유자로 ‘서계 박세당’을 거론할 수 있다는 점에 착안하였다. 그런데 서계 박세당에 대한 선행연구를 분석한 결과, 그에 대한 평가가 천양지차로 조사되었고, 이에 그의 사상사적 위상에 대한 심도 깊은 再고찰이 필요하게 되었다. 특히 그를 ‘反주자학’ ‘脫주자학’‘陽明學’ 성향을 가졌다고 이해하거나, 혹은 형이상학적인 것에 머무르지 않고 현실적인 것을 추구하였다는 점을 강조하여 ‘實學的’ 학풍을 가진 유자로 인정하는 일부 학자들의 견해들도 표출되었다. 이러한 박세당에 대한 다양한 평가를 좀 더 세밀하게 분석하기 위해서는, 무엇보다 그의 경전 주해를 면밀히 살펴보는 것이 가장 본질적인 연구의 단초라고 여겨, 그가 남긴 『思辨錄論語』를 저본으로 본 연구를 수행하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

For a long time the research on "gyeong-hak (經學)" in our country has put emphasis mainly on the aspect of "study of government (經世之學)" which dealt with the ``philosophical`` realm, while there was not any heated discussion about either significances and positions of hermeneutics contained in classical texts (經文), or ancient work explanation (訓고) and textual criticism (考證) etc. [``gyeong(經)`` in ``gyeong-hak`` has two meanings: the classical texts, and the ruling activities, the governance; ``hak`` means ``study``]. Even if there was some research on this subject, it would always follow an incomplete way named ``variorum (集注)`` in which the study of Zhu Xi (朱子學) was considered the center. Thus in this paper, in order to activate the research on documentaries interpreting the classics, the author sets the primary goal of selecting Confucian scholars in Joseon Dynasty and inquiring into parts (of their works) which included various interpretations of classics. Hence this paper sets the time around the 17th century as the premise, since in this time the academic feature (means the study of Zhu Xi and the ``variorum``) which was almost seen as the standard had reached the starting point of philosophical meditations; and pays attention to scholar Seo-gye Park Se Dang as a forerunner of this trend. However the results of preceding research on Seo-gye Park Se Dang as well as the evaluations of his thoughts are totally different, thus it is necessary to thoroughly re-examine his academic position. Especially there are some opinions according to which Park Se Dang had the inclination toward the opposition or evasion of the study of Zhu Xi and tended to the study of Yang Ming (陽明學), or he was a scholar with practical academic features which did not only stop at the metaphysics but also emphasized the necessity of reality. In this paper the author would examine those various evaluations of Park Se Dang by analysing his work named "Record of Meditations-the Analects (思辨錄論語)".
