松巖李魯(1544~1598)의 『龍蛇日記』는 임진왜란 당시 招諭使였던 鶴峯金誠一의 사적을 중심으로 기술된 매우 독특한 전쟁실기이다. 송암 『용사일기』가 지니는 문학적 특성을 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째 송암 『용사일기』는 학봉의 사적을 중심으로 자세히 기술되어 있다. 당대 전쟁실기 대부분이 전쟁의 일상을 기록한 일기체 형식이나 주요한 사건을 중심으로 한 기사체 형식이라는 점에서 송암 『용사일기』가 지니는 의미는 크다. 둘째 송암 『용사일기』는 작품 속의 주인공과 작자가 일치하지 않는다. 주인공과 작자가 일치하지 않아 작자가 객관적 시각을 견지할 수도 있지만 오히려 작자는 전지적 입장에서 작자의 집필의도에 따라 기술하였다는 점에서 흥미롭다. 셋째 송암 『용사일기』는 현재라는 시점을 기준으로 하여 기술되지 않고 과거의 사실을 기억해서 기술하는데 이것을 통해 작자는 작자의 의도대로 작품을 재단할 수 있다는 점에서 시사하는 바가 크다. 이상을 종합해 보면 송암 『용사일기』가 당대 전쟁실기와는 상당한 차이가 있고 오히려 임병양란 이후 기술되었던 전쟁실기와 매우 유사하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 임병양란 이후의 전쟁실기는 임병양란 당시 활약한 인물들의 사적을 중심으로 기술이 되었으며 작자와 주인공이 불일치하고, 후손들에 의해 선조의 사적들이 기술되었다는 점에서 몇 가지 특징을 지니는데 이 같은 특징이 송암의 『용사일기』에 나타나기 때문이다. 이를 근거로 조심스럽게 송암 『용사일기』가 임병양란 이후에 등장하는 전쟁실기의 출발점이지 않았을까 추정한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

``The Yongsa Ilgi``, a diary written by Songam Iro(松巖李魯)(1544~1598) is an original war history recorded around the private merits of Hakbong Seong-il Kim(鶴峯金誠一), a hero who took a brilliant part in Imjin Waeran (Japanese Invasion of Korea from 1592 to 1598). The literary characteristics of Songam`s ``Yongsa Ilgi`` can be summed up as follows: First, Songam`s ``Yongsa Ilgi`` gives further descriptions about war history on the basis of Hakbong`s private merits. Most of war histories recorded in same days as ``Yongsa Ilgi`` take a form of diary that records daily matters of warfare or are written primarily on the basis of major daily warfare events. That is why Songam`s ``Yongsa Ilgi`` has more significant implications in itself. Secondly, Songam`s ``Yongsa Ilgi`` is characterized by its author who is not consistent with its hero in diary. Such an inconsistency between author and hero may help author to keep his objective viewpoints(without any subjective viewpoint), but it is interesting that the author took more subjective perspectives to describe his diary works. Thirdly, the descriptions of Songam`s ``Yongsa Ilgi`` are based on previous facts, not present matters. so that its author could describe his diary as he intended. Songam`s ``Yongsa Ilgi`` is different from other contemporary war histories during the period of Imjin Waeran, but is very similar to war histories written after Imjin Waeran and Byeongja Horan in the sense that the ``Yongsa Ilgi`` contained daily descriptions mainly about personal actions of people, and was characterized by inconsistency between author and hero, and focused on describing historical facts in past. Based upon these characteristics, it may be carefully implied that Songam`s ``Yongsa Ilgi`` was possibly a starting point of war histories authored after 2 major medieval wars like Injin Waeran and Byeongja Horan around Korean peninsula.
