益齋李齊賢은 복잡다난했던 元 간섭기에 고려 왕조를 위해 충성을 했던 인물들의 묘지명에서 일화를 통해 故人의 행적을 입체적으로 묘사하고 있다. 일화는 찬술자 益齋가 직접 보고 들은 것으로 위급한 상황에서 자신의 안위를 돌보지 않고 고려를 구하려한 故人의 충성심과 고매한 인품을 입체적으로 묘사하고 있다. 충성심과 관련된 일화에는 益齋가 직간접적으로 등장하며. 비록 표면에 나타나지 않아도 일화의 배경이 되는 사건에 깊이 연루되어 있는 일화는 故人뿐만 아니라 益齋에게도 또한 의미 깊은 사건들이다.
위급한 상황에서 충성심을 보이는 등의 괄목할 만한 행적이 없는 평범한 인물의 경우는 故人과 관련된 행적을 간결하게 평면적으로 기술하고 있다. 주로 官爵·德·壽를 칭송하는 '達尊之三者'가 중심 주제가 되는 의례적인 형태로서, 행적이 소략한 대신 請命 과정이나 관작·가계에 대한 기술이 상대적으로 상세하다.
이처럼 益齋가 찬술한 고관의 묘지명에서 서술 방식이 달라지는 것은 관리의 최고 덕목은 충성심이라는 기준으로 故人을 평가하고, 그에 따라 서술 방식을 선택했기 때문이다. 즉 찬술의 대상은 故人의 삶이지만, 형상화되는 것은 益齋가 인생에서 추구하는 자신의 가치인 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Ikjae Jaehyeon Lee describes through anecdote on tomb stone the history of deseased persons who were royal for Koryeo Dynasty in the intricate period when Won dynasty interfered with. The anecdote that publisher Ikjae saw and heared in person describes the royalty and dignity of the deseased who did not care his own security to save Koryeo in critical situation. Ikjae appears on the anecdote relating to royalty directly and indirectly and is deeply involved in the accident that is the background of the anecdote, though not revealing on the surface. So the anecdote is significant to Ikjae as well as the deseased.
If a deseased is ordinary and does not show any great achievement, for example, being royal at a critical situation he describes the history of the deseased in a simple and plain manner. In such case the theme is "the noblest three conditions on earth" that is government office morals and longevity. The process of royal calling to office government office and family circumstances are described in detail while one's contribution is negligent.
The way of describing in the inscription on a tomb stone that Ikjae published was changed because the standard by which a deseased is evaluated is royalty and a way of describing is also determined according to it. In short the object of publication is the life of a deseased but what is formed is the value that Ikjae seeks through his own life.
